In a significant move aimed at alleviating food shortages and ensuring affordable prices for consumers, President Bola Tinubu has instructed the Nigerian Customs Service to return all seized grains to their rightful owners for sale in the local markets.
The directive, revealed by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, during a stakeholder meeting in Kwangwalam, Katsina State, underscores Tinubu's commitment to addressing the pressing issue of food security in the country.
Speaking at the gathering, the CGC emphasized that the decision aligns with the president's vision to make food more accessible and affordable for citizens. However, he clarified that the returned food items must be sold exclusively within the Nigerian markets.
Tinubu's directive reflects a proactive approach to mitigating the challenges posed by food scarcity, highlighting the government's responsiveness to the needs of the populace.
