In a recent operation led by Hakorin Damisa IV of Operation SAFE HAVEN, troops successfully uncovered and dismantled a rifle fabrication factory hidden in the rugged terrains of Pakachi Village, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. The operation, aimed at curbing criminal activities in the region, resulted in the arrest of one suspect, Mr. Tapshak Plangji, while the alleged owner, Mr. Nuhu Meshack, remains at large.

The factory, camouflaged within an isolated structure, was found to be a hub for manufacturing illicit firearms and related equipment. Among the arsenal recovered were 5 AK 47 rifles, 21 dane guns, 11 pistols with magazines, 4 revolver rifles, and a cache of various ammunition types including 11 rounds of 7.62mm, 5 rounds of 9mm, 6 rounds of 0.44 inch, and carbide cylinders with accessories.

Furthermore, the troops seized an array of machinery and tools integral to the illicit manufacturing process. These included 17 gun barrels, 3 saws, 12 filing machines, 4 hammers, 6 manual drilling machines, 2 electrically operated filing machines, 2 G-clamps, a spraying machine, assorted drilling irons, and a tiger generator.

Mr. Plangji, apprehended at the scene, is suspected of active involvement in the illegal activities orchestrated within the factory's confines. He is currently in custody alongside the seized weapons for further interrogation and investigation. Meanwhile, concerted efforts are underway to track down Mr. Meshack, the alleged mastermind behind the clandestine operation.

This successful operation not only showcases the unwavering dedication of the troops but also underscores the critical importance of collaborative efforts between security agencies and local communities in combating illegal arms proliferation and criminal activities in Plateau State. It serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by illicit arms production and trafficking, emphasizing the imperative need for continued vigilance and proactive measures to safeguard our nation's security and stability.
