In a bid to alleviate the economic strain caused by inflation, the Kwara State Government has launched another phase of its rice palliative distribution initiative, valued at N2 billion.
Under the guidance of Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, the Senior Special Assistant on Community Development, the government has begun the distribution of 20,000 bags of 10kg rice through Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs), and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) across the state.
This initiative aims to provide essential support to the most deserving individuals within various communities, utilizing grassroots networks to ensure effective outreach. Additionally, efforts are underway to collaborate with religious leaders, community figures, and other stakeholders to extend the reach of the palliative efforts across all 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Kwara State.
Prior to this, the government had distributed 10,000 bags of rice to the Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress (TUC) for distribution among their members.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the people of Kwara State amidst global economic challenges, emphasizing the importance of such interventions in mitigating the impact of inflation on purchasing power.
As communities grapple with the effects of inflation, the Kwara State Government's continued efforts to provide essential food support offer a lifeline to vulnerable populations, ensuring no one is left behind in these trying times.
