In response to mounting concerns over the misuse of tinted glass in aiding criminal activities, the Nigeria Police Force announces a comprehensive review of tinted glass permit issuance, previously banned in June 2022. The ban, initiated due to its association with crimes like kidnapping, armed robbery, and human trafficking, underscores the force's commitment to bolstering national security.
With the proposed lifting of the ban, stringent measures are being implemented to prevent abuse and ensure strict compliance with guidelines governing tinted glass permits. Scheduled for the 29th of February, 2024, nationwide training for ICT Analysts and Enforcement Officers aims to equip them with the necessary skills to regulate the registration process, attend to public complaints, and enforce compliance effectively.
The proposed tinted glass permit will incorporate distinctive features such as QR codes linked to a central database for real-time verification, unique serial numbers, and digital holograms to ensure authenticity. These measures, aligned with existing laws, signify the force's commitment to maintaining a delicate balance between public safety, individual freedoms, and national security interests.
As the Nigeria Police Force continues to prioritize transparency and accountability, updates on the implementation of the reviewed tinted glass permit issuance process will be provided to the public.
