The Defense Headquarters has vehemently refuted recent claims made by SaharaReporters regarding the Guards Brigade being placed on high alert due to suspicions of a coup plot in Nigeria. According to the Defense Headquarters, the allegations are entirely baseless and lack any factual foundation.
In a statement released by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Acting Director of Defense Information, it was emphasized that the Guards Brigade maintains a constant state of readiness in line with its duties of safeguarding the seat of power and the Federal Capital Territory. General Gusau reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to upholding democracy within the country.
The Defense Headquarters condemned the publication by SaharaReporters as a mere fabrication designed to sow seeds of discord and panic among the populace. Calling for swift action against SaharaReporters by relevant security agencies, the Defense Headquarters also announced its intention to pursue legal recourse against the publication for its irresponsible and unpatriotic conduct.
The public is urged to disregard the unfounded allegations and remain assured of the Armed Forces' dedication to ensuring peace and stability across Nigeria.
