Aisha Yesufu Reveals Dubious Campaign Finance Figures in OBI/DATTI Account

By Mohammed Bello Doka

Aisha Yesufu, a prominent activist, has brought to light concerning discrepancies in the campaign finance account of the OBI/DATTI group, less than 24 hours after their National Treasurer accused them of fraud.

According to the disclosed financial details, the expenses incurred by the campaign include a staggering N268 million for campaign materials, N16 million for radio broadcasts, N10 million for election promotion, N324 million for polling unit agents, N1.7 million for bank charges, N476 million for administration, N744 million for legal expenses, and N28 million for other campaigns.

However, what raises suspicion is the rounded figures for each expense. Every amount appears as a round figure in millions, prompting questions about the accuracy and transparency of the expenditures. Aisha Yesufu pointed out the unusual nature of these figures, noting that they seem intentionally manipulated to obscure the actual amounts spent.

In contrast to the suspicious expenses, the donations received by the campaign seem equally rounded. While citizens contributed a total of N596 million, Peter Obi allegedly donated a hefty sum of N800 million. Yet, these figures lack specificity, raising doubts about the legitimacy of the reported donations.

Aisha Yesufu emphasized the discrepancy between the rounded figures and the reality of financial transactions, suggesting that such practices resemble fraudulent behavior. She criticized the lack of transparency and accountability within the OBI/DATTI campaign, urging for thorough investigations into the matter.

The revelation of dubious campaign finance figures by Aisha Yesufu has sparked public outrage and demands for accountability from the OBI/DATTI group. With concerns over potential financial impropriety, citizens are calling for greater scrutiny and oversight to ensure integrity in political campaigns.
