A recent post circulating on WhatsApp has claimed that the Federal Government of Nigeria is offering a cash transfer of N25,000 to Nigerians. The message states that the government has approved this amount for a duration of three months, benefiting15 million households. It also includes a link for registration and urges recipients to share the message with others.
To verify the authenticity of this claim, the fact-checkers at Daily Trust conducted an investigation. They discovered several grammatical errors in the message and identified the attached link as unsafe. Furthermore, their investigation revealed that the message did not originate from the federal government.
Jamaldeen Kabir, the National Communications Manager at the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA), confirmed that the federal government is not responsible for any online registration related to a cash transfer program of this nature.
Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the claim of the Federal Government providing a registration link for a N25,000 cash transfer is false. The public is advised to be cautious of such misleading information and refrain from sharing it further.
