By Mohammed Bello Doka

In a landmark ruling, the Appeal Court has declared all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winners in the Plateau House of Assembly elections, effectively removing all candidates of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) from their seats. This decision has significantly altered the political landscape in the state.

The Appeal Court's ruling solidifies the APC's dominance in the Plateau Assembly, with the party now holding a majority of seats. The breakdown of the current composition is as follows: APC -21 members, Labour Party (LP) -1 member, Young Progressives Party (YPP) -1 member, and PDP -1 member.

The verdict has sparked mixed reactions among political observers and citizens alike. Supporters of the APC celebrate the court's decision, viewing it as a validation of the party's electoral strength. On the other hand, PDP loyalists express disappointment and frustration over the outcome, questioning the fairness of the ruling.

Following their victory at the Appeal Court, all APC House of Assembly lawmakers who emerged as winners paid a visit to Senator-elect Simon Lalong. The visit served as a show of solidarity and appreciation for Lalong's support during the legal battle.

Senator-elect Simon Lalong, a former Governor of the state, current minister of the federal republic and a prominent figure within the APC, expressed his gratitude to the victorious lawmakers, emphasizing the need for unity and collaboration within the party. Lalong highlighted the importance of working together to fulfill the promises made to the people of Plateau State during the election campaign.

The ruling party's lawmakers are now expected to assume their positions in the Plateau House of Assembly, ready to represent their constituents and contribute to the development and progress of the state.

As the political landscape in Plateau State undergoes a significant transformation, all eyes will be on the APC-led Assembly to see how they navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. The decisions made by these lawmakers will undoubtedly shape the future of the state and its citizens.
