In a recent interview with Abuja Network News, Hon. Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North West), shed light on President Tinubu's determined efforts to bring lasting peace to the troubled North Western region of Nigeria.

Yakasai emphasized the significance of the National Conference on Livestock Reforms and Mitigation of Associated Conflicts in Nigeria, led by Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. He stated that the conference's current report would play a pivotal role in addressing the root causes of the conflicts and establishing sustainable peace in the region.

Acknowledging the underlying issues fueling the conflict, Yakasai highlighted the need for strong political will to tackle the crisis effectively. He assured the public that President Tinubu possesses the determination and commitment required to resolve the crises once and for all.

Expanding on Tinubu's comprehensive strategy, Yakasai revealed that it encompasses various aspects, including socio-economic development, security reinforcement, and community engagement. The President aims to address the root causes of banditry by implementing measures that promote economic opportunities, enhance security operations, and foster dialogue and cooperation among communities.

Under Tinubu's leadership, the government plans to invest in infrastructure development, job creation, and skills training programs to uplift the region's socio-economic conditions. By providing alternative livelihood options and empowering the local population, the administration aims to weaken the appeal of banditry and extremism.

In terms of security, Yakasai emphasized the need for enhanced intelligence gathering, increased deployment of security personnel, and improved coordination among security agencies. The President intends to strengthen security operations by equipping and training security forces to effectively combat banditry and protect the lives and properties of citizens.

Furthermore, community engagement will play a crucial role in Tinubu's strategy. The government aims to foster trust and cooperation between communities and security agencies through dialogue, mediation, and reconciliation initiatives. By involving local leaders, religious institutions, and civil society organizations, the administration seeks to build bridges and promote peaceful coexistence.

Hon. Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai concluded the interview by expressing his confidence in President Tinubu's ability to bring lasting peace to the Northwest region. He urged the public to support the government's efforts and remain optimistic about the positive changes that lie ahead.

With Tinubu's comprehensive strategy, which encompasses socio-economic development, security reinforcement, and community engagement, there is hope that the Northwest region will soon witness a significant reduction in banditry and the restoration of lasting peace.
