Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, a joint task force covering Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, have been making significant strides in their ongoing clearance operation against armed bandits in the Northwest. These brave troops have continued to neutralize bandits, rescue kidnapped victims, recover stolen items, and destroy their hideouts.
On the 3rd of August 2023, armed bandits launched an attack on Isa LGA in Sokoto state. However, the quick and vigilant response from troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Isa turned the tables on the attackers. With their superior firepower, the troops were able to repel the bandits, forcing them to retreat with gunshot wounds. Evidences of their injuries were discovered along their escape routes during subsequent pursuit operations.
In addition, Team 8 of Sector 3 Operation Hadarin Daji, deployed in Sabon Birni, Sokoto state, embarked on clearance operations in various areas, resulting in the discovery and destruction of bandit hideouts. Locations such as Kusabunni Forest, Tafkin gawo, Alumdawa, Ungwar Mailele, and Malamawa villages were cleared of bandit presence. Unfortunately, the bandits had fled their hideouts before the arrival of the troops. Nonetheless, valuable items were recovered from these locations, including 3 motorcycles, 3 AK-47 magazines, ammunition, a variety of military and foreign camouflage uniforms, police uniforms, and even a radio.
Furthermore, in response to a distress call concerning bandit activity and the large-scale rustling of animals, troops from Sector 2 in Katsina state swiftly mobilized an offensive operation. This operation targeted the withdrawal routes of the abductors in Kore town, Batagarawa LGA of Katsina state. Upon the sight of the troops, the bandits fled, abandoning both their kidnapped victims and the rustled animals. Additionally, troops from Operation Hadarin Daji in Katsina state successfully rescued four individuals who had been captured by armed bandits while working on their farms in Ungwan Madugu of Dandume LGA in Katsina state. The victims were left behind by their captors, who fled when the troops, joined by local vigilantes, swiftly moved to the scene. Once rescued, the victims were safely reunited with their families, while the recovered cattle were returned to their rightful owners.
The ongoing efforts of the Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji serve as a strong deterrent to armed banditry in the region. With each successful operation, these troops reinforce the message that criminal activities will not be tolerated, and that the safety and security of the people remain their top priority.
