In a bid to maintain peace and security in Nigeria's South East region, security forces conducted a successful raid on Monday. The operation was carried out to enforce the law and deter the illegal sit-at-home order declared by the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN), stated Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations.

Receiving information about the violent activities of the irredentist group, troops swiftly mobilized to counter any potential threats, targeting specific areas where the illegal two-week sit-at-home order was being enforced. These locations included Onitsha, Nnewi, and Iheme Obosi in Anambra State, as well as New Market in Enugu State.

During the operation, security forces apprehended several individuals suspected of involvement in the unlawful activities perpetuated by IPOB and ESN. Their swift response demonstrated a commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and well-being of the general public.

Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu reiterated the military's dedication to protecting the lives and property of innocent citizens. He noted that the raid operation was part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and prevent any further disruption caused by the illegal sit-at-home order. Nwachukwu emphasized the government's commitment to fostering an atmosphere of tranquility and unity in Nigeria, reiterating that no individual or group should be allowed to disrupt the peace.

The successful raid carried out by the security forces serves as a reassurance to the residents of the South East region that the government remains vigilant and proactive in safeguarding their interests. Moreover, it sends a strong message to other groups considering similar actions that the law will be enforced firmly and swiftly.

As the nation continues to strive for unity and progress, it is crucial for all citizens to adhere to the laws and regulations put in place by the government. By doing so, Nigeria can foster an environment where every individual feels safe and secure, knowing that their rights and freedoms are protected.

The collaborative efforts of the security forces, along with the support of law-abiding citizens, will undoubtedly contribute to the sustained peace and stability of the South East region. As the government remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the rule of law, it is expected that the influence of such irredentist groups will diminish, allowing for greater harmony and progress for all Nigerians.
