Local Coordinator, African Students for Liberty has made a passionate appeal to Oyo State governor and other relevant agencies to step up efforts in the investigation of the murder of late Olarenwaju Quadri.
The writer claims that the case of extra judicial killing was committed by the Nigerian Custom Service, pleading with the Governor to take necessary action geared towards the protection of the lives and properties of the residents of the state.
Mr. Isaac also insists that the case of a stray bullet has already being ruled out, as it was a clear and apparent case of extra judicial killing by the service. He therefore implores all relevant authorities to do what is necessary to bring the perpetrators to justice.

I am writing to bring your attention to a grave incident that recently occurred in Iwere-Ile, Iwajowa Local Government area of Oyo State(June 23rd,2023). It is a clear case of murder that was openly committed by the Nigerian Customs Service. I implore you to take immediate action to ensure that justice is served for the victim, Olarewaju Quadri.
The proximity of Iwere-Ile to the border has unfortunately led to a rise in rice smuggling, as unemployed youths view it as a means to sustain themselves. While this activity is illegal, it thrives due to the corrupt practices of border security officials, particularly Customs Officers. This incident highlights the urgent need to address these underlying issues.
Olarewaju Quadri's murder cannot be attributed to a stray bullet; it was a clear case of extrajudicial killing, robbing a bright soul of his life. Quadri was a promising young man, a source of hope for his family and a father to two precious souls. Moreover, his wife is currently pregnant, further intensifying the tragedy of this loss.
The Custom officers, recklessly and under the influence of power, entered the Iwajowa Local Government headquarters in Iwere-Ile, supposedly in pursuit of smugglers on bikes. Tragically, they took the life of an innocent bystander, Quadri, who was simply working in his barbing shop to support his family.
It is imperative that this case is thoroughly and impartially investigated, ensuring that justice is served for the grieving family of this young talent. The loss they have suffered is irreparable, and it is our duty to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
I kindly request your urgent attention and intervention in this matter. Please deploy the necessary resources to conduct a comprehensive investigation into this incident, with the aim of bringing the perpetrators to justice. By doing so, you will not only restore the faith of the community in law enforcement but also send a powerful message that such extrajudicial killings will not be tolerated.
I trust in your commitment to upholding justice and protecting the rights of Nigerian citizens. The pursuit of justice for Olarewaju Quadri is not only essential for his grieving family but also for the broader community seeking an end to such atrocities.
