A mild drama ensured at the International Conference Center Abuja, due to prayers by the agents of PDP, Labour Party and seven other political parties that the INEC Chairman should stop the collation of results due to inability of the commission to upload the result to the BVAS.
They also complained of over voting in Ekiti state. On the other hand the agents of the APC and NRM amongst others rejected the prayers to put the collation on hold due to the sensitivity of the process. They maintain that anyone not satisfied with the process can challenge same in the court of law.
Responding to the allegations the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission Professor Mahmud Yakubu overruled the motion raised by Melaye and others saying according to dictate of the law the inability of the commission to upload the result to the BVAS does not give credence to their prayers to stop the process he also reject the claim by Melaye and others that there was over voting in Ekiti state.
The Inec chairman defined what constitute over voting, juxtaposing same with the claim of Dino and others he insist there was no over voting in Ekiti.
"Over voting occurs when the total number of votes casts is higher than the to the total number of accredited votes." According to the Chairman. The the collation continues with APC comfortably leading with a considerable margin.
