New Naira Notes: Kaduna, Kogi, Zamfara Drags FG To Supreme Court

The lingering naira redesign policy has taken a new twist as the governments of Kaduna,Kogi and Zamfara dragged the federal government to the supreme court, seeking restraining oder to stop the FG from the full implementation of the policy.

The three states prayed the court to grant them an interim injunction through their legal council Abdulhakeem Uthman Mustapha (SAN) for an injunction stopping the federal government either by itself or acting through the CBN, the commercial Banks or its agents from carrying out its plan of ending the time frame for the collection of the old notes on February 10.

The states argued that the policy has not only crippled commercial activities but is subjecting citizens to unnecessary hardship due to acute shortage in the supply of the new notes in the three states.

They also cite the inadequacy of the notice and other irregularities in the exercise thus prayed the court to grant an expertee motion stoping the full implementation of the policy.

As Nigerians continue to grumble in pains due to the grounding of commercial activities the states believes the oder will help restore sanity to the system and ease the difficulty faced by the masses which are the most affected.
