The Benue State Governor and a member of the G5 has declared his support for the Presidential Candidate of the Labor Party Mr. Peter Obi.
Mr. Ortom made the revelation in a town hall meeting in Makurdi the Benue State capital amidst ward representatives drawn from length and breadth of the state.
This is a clear indication that the G5 might not remain as a single force as this is coming less than 48 hours after the arrow head of the group River State Governor Nyesom Wike declared support for the Presidential candidate of the APC Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
It could be recalled that the Benue State Governor Mr. Ortom has been a vocal critic of the APC Muslim Muslim ticket which he sees as a move to silence the Christian community most especially in the North. This might be the reason behind his refusal to team up with Wike to support Asiwaju Tinubu.

“We must, in this 2023, fashion a new Nigeria, Nigeria that will give the people equity, fairness, and justice." Ortom says during the declaration.
It is unclear where and who the remaining three Governors of the G5 will pitch their tent with. Details of meetings between the Presidential candidate of the APC Asiwaju Tinubu and the Oyo state Governor Mr. Seyi Makinde is yet to be made public but it is most likely that the Governor will pitch tent with his kinsman.
This is another major blow to the chances of the PDP in winning the upcoming election as major blocks continue to crumble just few days to the elections.
