Nigeria has never been divided along ethno religious lines like today, the fabric that hold the country is gradually eroding alongside suspicion, accusations and counter accusations of dishonesty, mistrust and backstabbing amidst ethno religious jingo such a gory situation reminisce of an apocalyptic pop scenary.
Likewise there has never a time that unity of purpose, equity, justice and fairness should be treasured in our over six decades of Nationhood like today, yet there has never been a time that the jackals, the vultures and the owls are willing to sacrifice everyone and everything in the pursuit of power, absolute power which the wise of the old says corrupt absolutely, to worsen our case our leaders are more corrupt then the corruption of the absolute power in and on itself.
To paraphrase the words of Master Sun Tzu " An unpatriotic citizen can set his country ablaze to rule over the ashes". Alas "all is fair in love and in war". Thus Atiku and his co travellers the jackals (PDP), the Vultures (Labor Party) and the Owls ( ANPP) have justified their excesses and have chosen to lead in hell than to serve in heaven. As such they willing to sacrifice everyone and everything in oder to gain power even if it entails setting the country on fire in oder to rule over the ashes.
So the PDP Jackals, the vultures and the owls were unperturbed when they willingly trample on the dictate of their party with regards to power rotation between the two major blocks of the North and South with reckless abundance and factory fitted arrogance.
Thus the unifier has chosen to hit up the polity by going back against a policy He promised to lay his life to defend. He has seized to be a nationalist and has borrowed the garb of an ethnic jingo as a means to an uncertain end.
In 2014 Atiku, Dino, Kwankwaso, Tambuwal and the host of the forty thieves banded together, daggers drawn ready to bath in tears and blood and even sink or drown with President Jonathan claiming that 2015 was the turn of the North to produce the President of Nigeria, sighting an unwritten gentleman agreement between the two regions, demanding nothing but justice, equity and fairness.
They accuse Jonathan of treachery, deceit, lies and usurpation amidst the cheers of the crowd akin to an intoxicating wine made of honeycombs, behold the paragon of civility, fairness and justice. The champions of democracy and upholders of promise .
What a pity after eight years of a Northern Presidency under President Muhammadu Buhari, Atiku and his forty thieves are changing the narrative, the music has changed so the dance must chang by fire by force. The new anthem now is banking on our weaknesses to spread ethnocentric jingoism.
Atiku was heard in Kaduna calling on his fellow Northerners to vote a Northerner because they can't afford a southerner as president while his ex Lieutenant Peter Obi echo a similar call in the hallowed chambers of the church screaming "Pls wake up church and take back your country".
The PDP and PDP lite (Labor party), PDP mini (NNPP) careless about the consequences of their actions and or inactions, all they care is power and they are ready to do whatever to get that which they so madly desire even at the expense of innocent lives, sorrow, tears and blood.
Dino has divorced his ex lord Saraki and has canonized Atiku a famed crime lord, smart looter and a ruthless mob leader a unifier who cannot unite his party. Atiku has not only divided his party but has also divided the country. An Atiku Presidency will only spark the embers of violence, hate and disaffection which has been brewing for years.
The South will see any Northern Presidency as an usurpation they will remember the words of Atiku, Tambuwal, Kwankwaso and co, they will feel betrayed, abused and will now see us Northerners as cheats, deceitful and will only reaffirm the erroneous title of the born to rule tag we have already been branded with.
IPOB, Oduduwa and Niger Delta separatist will also exploit the problem to the maximum in the words of Robert Greene "If One Ember is left alight no matter how dimly it smoulders a fire will eventually break out".
Nigerians and most especially Northerners must be careful, avoid ethnocentric jingo and act more like nationalist than regionalists. We must tame the embers of mistrust and portray ourselves as team players and not as a band of rogue and thieving folks clinging to power desperately as if our lives depends on it.
We must reason beyond today, beyond wants and beyond the paparazzi and drowsiness of power. Let's give peace a chance. We have to gain from power sharing than from a disintegrated, disjointed and fractured Nigeria. Remember half bread is always better than chin chin and like the Americans used to say if it ain't broken don't fix it.
