IBeto: A Serial Political Turncoat At It Again.

Press Release

As the news of the defection of the former deputy governor of Niger State, Alh. Ahmed Musa Ibeto broke out yesterday, many expected the All Progressive Congress (APC) to lose sleep over that.

But, why would anyone lose sleep over the defection of a serial political turncoat who is simply carrying out his usual obligation?

Ostensibly, only members of a dejected political party, political jobbers, and spent horses would celebrate such a politically spent grain.

Just as one political juggernaut observed, Ibeto is not familiar with political struggles, he is always a gatecrasher, as is clear from his political antecedents; from DG Protocol to House of Reps member to Deputy Governor to Ambassadorial appointment. He got them more or less on a platter of gold.

The first time he attempted to vie for the seat of the governor, in the year 2015, under the platform of PDP, he was beaten black and blue and he defected to APC where he was almost made a minister but for Sen. David Umar's insistence that the ministerial slot must go to Niger East (zone B) as he (Ibeto) is from the same senatorial zone with the state governor.

However, he was appointed Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Africa, but, like the proverbial ostrich, with his head buried in the sands, he failed to see the writing on the wall, so he left APC to contest for the governorship election in 2019 under the platform of the same PDP he blasted for all sort of negativities, and, this time around, he received a heavier punch than the previous one.

As democrats and Progressives for that matter, we regret losing any member, however, it must be noted that for any member we lose, at least we receive ten new members from other parties and that is what matters to us, we need people, not one individual.
You know you cannot have everyone behind you all the time, but, we are ready and well-prepared for this election. Again, it is not about individuals, it is about the people, and with the improvement in the electoral process, anybody that depends on an individual is doing so at his or her peril. As the unreliable Ibeto leaves so many others are leaving other parties and joining us, and we will announce these defections very soon.
Let us not make a mountain out of a molehill.
