The Association of Drivers of Dangote Cement Transport, Obajana in Kogi State have directed their members nationwide to boycott transportation of goods to the southeastern states due to security challenges.
In a short letter written by the association to the company the drivers noted that "we kindly write this short note to the company that are returning some waybills to the southeast state of Nigeria that we driver (sic) are not going to some part of the southeast (sic) due to ongoing situation of the site Nigeria (sic)....
Security situations in the southeastern part of the country continue to deteriorate daily due to the activities of the Ipob and the ESN and or Unknown gunmen in which so many Dangote drivers have fallen victims over the years. The Ipob anti Fulani and anti Northern agenda has seen people, goods and services deemed to be of Northern origin burnt and vandalised in that part of the country.
Abuja Network News is yet to get the reaction of neither the government nor the IPOB in this development which will doubtlessly affect the economy of the southeast that is already struggling to survive the series of compulsory stay at home orders imposed by IPOB in the region.
