"The Management of Sokoto State University (SSU) has commended the Governing Council of Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) on the recent appointment of Prof. Muhammad Zaiyan Umar as the Vice Chancellor of the University.
Vice Chancellor, Sokoto State University, Prof. Bashir Garba, MFR made the commendation when he led the SSU Management on a courtesy visit to the new Vice Chancellor FUBK on Tuesday, 13th December, 2022 at the Senate Building, University Main Campus.
The Vice Chancellor who was accompanied by the SSU Management staff and a representative of SSU Governing Council, congratulated Prof. MZ Umar on his well-deserved appointment as the 3rd substantive Vice Chancellor, Federal University Birnin Kebbi. Prof. Bashir Garba disclosed that the Sokoto State University community was not surprised to have heard the news of his appointment, knowing fully well who Prof. MZ Umar is, considering his past antecedents at the SSU and other tertiary institutions.
Prof. Bashir expressed optimism that the new VC FUBK would do much better than his past success stories. He pledged the support and cooperation of the SSU while calling on the Vice Chancellor to reach out for any advice necessary to succeed in his administration.
In his response, the new Vice Chancellor of Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Prof. M.Z. Umar, welcomed the delegation wholeheartedly to the University. He expressed gratitude to the Governing Council and Management of Sokoto State University for the kind gesture, noting that he felt at home looking at the ‘‘line up’’ coming for the visit.
Prof. MZ Umar who gave an insight into the evolution of FUBK, maintained that the prospect of the University was quite high looking at the phenomenal growth experienced in the institution from inception to date. He expressed delight over the warm reception by the Management and staff of the University.
The Vice Chancellor further said that the University was lucky to have hard working Vice Chancellors who laid solid foundation to build on. He acknowledged the efforts of his predecessors, assuring that the Management would not relent on its oars towards transforming the University.
Highlights of the event were special prayers for the Vice Chancellor, handing over of congratulatory letter to the new VC, guided tour of the University campuses and group photography."
