The Nigerian Police Force on thursday were led by the arrested Nigerian army deserter and an Ipob deputy commander Mr. Nwagwu Chiwendu to yet another Ipob's Obowo camp were sterling discoveries were made in the process.
Mr Chiwendu was arrested by the police during his father's burial and has made some confessions regarding his perticipations in the murder of an APC chieftain Ahmed Gulak who was on an official duty in the southeast sometime last year.
After his arrest and interrogation the ESN deputy commander has been helping the police with information needed in cracking down on the Ipob, a pro Biafran group that's been proscribed and tagged as a terrorist organisation by Nigerian courts and authorities due the groups use of violence to achieve political goals.
Things discovered in the Ipob's armed wing the Eastern Security Network's Obowo Camp by the police include cache of voter cards, EFCC jackets, locally made grenade, GPMG (5), double barrels and 19 AK 47 riffles used by the dreaded group to terrorise the public.
No doubt Mr Chiwendu's arrest will help boost the government crackdown on Ipob and its armed ESN who has continued to perpetrate choas and violence that have made the southeast a killing zone recently.
Hardly a day passed without a report of violence which include extra judicial killings,rape,kidnapping for ransom, intimidation and threat to lives and properties amongst other violent crimes by Ipob in the region.
Government is making serious efforts in combatting the menace and providing a peaceful society that will secure the lives and properties of law abiding citizens going about their lawful business in the region. Thus we expect to see more crackdown on the terror group in coming days.
