...Set for Inauguration, Investiture Monday, December 19
Arrangements are afoot for the formal inauguration of the Prince Otu and Odey Support Organisation, also known as POOSO.
Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu is the Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Cross River State.
The event is scheduled for Monday, December 19, at the Former State Secretariat of the APC along Marian Road (near Hi Quality Bakery) Calabar at 12noon.
An official statement from the Secretariat of the organisation, and endorsed by Chief Edwin Usang for the Central Planning Committee, December 15,said POOSO was formed as "an independent campaign organisation which brought together several support groups and notable personalities from the state with the sole aim of harnessing all the individual resources of the groups in order to form one formidable force that can deliver all our Candidates in the state."
The statement also mentioned that the organisation plays "a complementary role with the APC Campaign Council and other similar organisations in the state."
The organisation,the statement emphasized, has already constituted structures and organs across the length and breadth of the state.
With its Motto as "Fairness,Equity and Justice," the organisation was basically formed to advocate strongly for the return of the Governorship seat back to the Southern Senatorial District of the state in line with the direction of the state's leadership of the party.
Prof. Nyong is the Group Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
A renowned Consultant in Strategic Management and in the Petroleum sector,Prof. Nyong was in the pioneer Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission,NDDC. He is also a founding member of the APC.
Another party Chieftain,Dr. Ramsey Ndep will superintend over affairs as the State Coordinator of the organisation while Chief Edwin Usang will be the Secretary.
The Monday event is expected to witness the inauguration of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committees at different levels as well as the investiture of Grand Patrons and Patrons on notable individuals in the state.
The Governorship Candidate, Sen. Otu along with his running mate,Rt.Hon. Peter Odey and all other Candidates of the party are expected to commission the organisation for the responsibility of mobilising massively for elections victory next year.
Chairman of the Central Planning Committee,CPC of the occasion,Mr. Effiong Ita Okon had said plans have reached advanced stage for a successful event on Monday.
To chair the event is Former Nigeria's Ambassador to Japan, Ambassador J.T Ayambem,while a
Former House of Representatives Member,Hon. Chris Eriba will deliver the keynote address.
Also, prominent Support Groups and notable personalities will present goodwill messages at the occasion.
Chairman,Board of Trustees,Prof. Nyong had also remarked that the inauguration and investiture will set the ball rolling for a wholistic approach to the campaigns.
He maintained that as an independent campaign organisation, POOSO was ready and willing to partner groups and individuals who share in the vision and objectives of ensuring the victory of all the party's Candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Over twenty Support Groups have so far indicated interest to partner the organisation to achieve the desired objectives.
